Question:
What is the point of debating about religion if Catholics and Protestants aren't going to agree on the the meaning and use of the Bible? I mean, what's the point? It just becomes a "back and forth" argument over interpretation with nothing settled"
Answer:
This is exactly why protestantism fails. They cannot demonstrate from Scripture the validity of their false belief in Sola Scriptura. The thousands of Protestant churches all claiming to be "Bible Based" and "led by the Holy Spirit" yet all coming to different conclusions about "essentials" is evidence for their failure. Protestants will continue to lack unity as long as they try to adhere to the erroneous idea that the Bible alone is the final authority for Christians.
Catholics certainly do march to the beat of different drums according to culture and location but at least we are united under the umbrella of our Pope (who is our link to St. Peter) and the teaching magisterium of the Church (the Church that Jesus Christ founded). Without the Church, there is no unity. Until protestants come back home to Rome, they will continue to lack not only unity but also a "complete" Christianity.
Until Next Time,
Be Proud to Be Catholic,
Pete
